LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

The excitement tingles through my body, up my bones, through my veins and across my skin. You light up my world, and just your presence makes my life worth living. Without you, I could never achieve my dreams. Without you I’d just be a girl, but with you I’m a girl with ability. You make my wild ideas seem less impossible, in fact you help make them a reality.

I know my eyes sometimes wonder to your brothers but you’ll always be my second. There are times I could strangle you and I’m sorry I slap you whenever I get frustrated that you don’t always do what I want. It’s just that you’re the one I rely on and if you’re not there, then there’s no one to fall back on. I could never live without you or someone like you. Together we are complete.

A little bit of satire to celebrate February the 14th.

In all seriousness, my sewing machine is a major part of my life and I do love it very much. My parents gave it to me for my 15th birthday, bought second-hand from a family friend and it has served me very, very well.

Sometimes I wish it had a bit more grunt, take for example the needle wouldn’t snap every time I accidentally go over a pin, and a few extra features but it’s simplicity is good enough for me. I don’t even know how to work all its fancy stitches but for my basic sewing it is perfect.

I’d just like to add that about 4 years ago I described my perfect man as someone who could fix my sewing machine. I don’t know if modern men even know what sewing machines do but luckily I’ve been pretty good at fixing it myself, because I’m an independent woman.

Hope you’re all having a lovely Valentine’s Day, not just celebrating those you love, but also loving yourself a bit more and thinking about what you love and makes you the most excited about life.
